In short: your writing stays on your computer, and neither this website nor the app keeps track of you.

This website

No cookies and no analytics. The fonts, pictures and videos are served from here, not from anyone else.

The app

• No tracking and no account.
• Your projects are ordinary folders on your computer. Nothing in them leaves your computer unless you ask, as described below.
• Spelling, grammar and style checking, dictionaries, reading aloud and machine translation all run on your computer.

What goes over the network, and when

Jerome connects only for these, and only at these moments:

Activating, and the check at start

Lemon Squeezy receives your licence key, your computer's name and a short code made from your computer's ID, so you can tell your computers apart. The ID itself never leaves your computer. Offline, Jerome keeps working, with no time limit.

Downloads you start

Tools, maps, fonts, dictionaries and translation models, when you download them in Settings. Each comes from a fixed address.

Looking things up, when you ask

Looking a book up in Open Library, or saving a web page into your research.

AI help, only if you turn it on

It is off until you turn it on, in two places: Settings, and the project's Workspace settings. Even then nothing is sent until you confirm it, and it goes where you choose: to a server on your own computer, or to a provider you pick, with your own key.

Paying

Lemon Squeezy handles the payment and your card details. Jerome never sees them.
